From Germany to Sweden – Arne’s semester abroad
Arne is currently working as a dual student at KURRE. 🎓 He already completed his bachelor’s degree in mechatronics. But that wasn’t the end of his academic journey. Naturally, KURRE also supported him in pursuing a master’s degree in electrical engineering.⚡ During his studies at the Jade Hochschule Wilhelmshaven, Arne spent a semester abroad in Sweden. Today, he shares his experiences:
In freezing temperatures and two months without sunlight, I encountered snow, ice and a fascinating culture. ❄️ My goal was to step out of my comfort zone and understand how Swedes interact with their environment. Mid Sweden University course “Autonomous Sensors” impressed me with its focus on machine learning in energy-efficient embedded systems.
Studying at MIUN was personal and hands-on. The Swedish language course helped me integrate much more easily.🤝 Life in Sundsvall was peaceful, yet full of opportunities. The nature and national parks were breathtaking, and the people were friendly and supportive.
A highlight was my trip to Lapland – dog sledding 🐕🛷, northern lights 🌌, and icy adventures!❄️ I learned that Sweden is a country of punctuality, order, and coziness. People value calm and composure but also love to celebrate.🎉
My conclusion? I am grateful for the support from KURRE and glad I took this opportunity. I gained a lot – both professionally and personally. Sweden was truly an enriching experience.
