“Quality is when the customer comes back, not the product.”
This was the theme of our most recent monthly trainee meeting, which was entirely devoted to the topic of quality assurance. Our Head of Quality Control explained the fundamental principles of quality assurance to us and introduced the various measurement capabilities of the department. Particularly fascinating: We learned that we can measure components with an accuracy of 10 µm—a level of precision that far exceeds what the human eye can perceive.
