Fully Automatic Take-up for “Steeger” Spools
Efficiency Without Spool Modification
“Steeger” spools have been a standard in the braiding and fine-wire processing industries for years. However, one key problem has persisted:
The spools do not allow for automatic securing of the wire bundle at the start of the winding process. As a result, manual winding of the fine wires on the Steeger spools are state of the art.
KURRE Systems has turned this challenge into the starting point for a new technical solution. The fully automatic winder developed for “Steeger” spools circumvents the lack of clamping technology without modifying the spool and without a clamping ring. The machine handles the automatic winding completely on its own.
The process includes:
- continuous supply of spools via an empty spool magazine
- automatic quality measurement of the spools (concentricity, dimensions, tolerances)
- fully automatic tying of the wire bundle without operator intervention
- automatic cutting and complete labeling (label, barcode, batch)
- proper placement in the full-spool magazine
By using transportable cassettes, up to twelve empty or full spools can be handled simultaneously—a significant advantage in terms of setup and handling times.
The new fully automatic take-up will be presented on the wire Düsseldorf 2026 for the first time.
